Everyone should be pleased the snow has started to go away and should give me thanks for making that happen. Just over a month ago I bought a snow blower so bye-bye snow. This means that next year will probably be a low snowfall year in fact how long does it take to rust out an unused snow blower? It was an experience for I had never ran a snow blower before and I hurt less shoveling snow. I would push it as fast as I could then tilt the front to throw the snow, yank it back and do it again. I had a heck of a time throwing it over the hills Then my brother-in-law came over and said “turn it on!” Well I must say that made a big difference. 11hp of shear power dragging me down the street and blowing all that snow back in my face. After a few minutes I was covered in snow but I had clean sidewalks and my driveway was never that wide. I even used it to pull a stuck car in the street. Wish it had a way to steer for I would ride it to work!! Anyway when we have no snow next year just remember who made it happen!

Can you believe this weather we are having, it is Bush’s fault and surely will raise the price of oil. I can’t ever remember when the weather was so great! Every day it is like this though, is one fewer day of heating and that is fine with me. What’s bad about it, is oil prices will probably go up because of the lack of use which I haven’t been able to figure out. Recently oil prices shot up because of a cold snap and something called supply and demand? I’ll almost put money on if we use less then it will go up again, that old supply and demand again. Sooner or later we’ll wise up and look for alternatives. What happened to the hydrogen car invented back around 1955? I remember seeing one on the cover of a science magazine and was going to be the car of the future. Everyone was going to be burning water instead of gas. We would just pull up to a stream, drop a hose and suck up some water. Of course by now we would probably be out of water.
Some of our current alternatives that could possibly be the future are:
Steam – One of the first cars was powered by steam and if we reinvented it just think of the possibilities. We would now pull over by the stream, drop the hose and while we are sucking up water we could be chopping down a tree to burn. After all we need a way o produce the steam.
Methane – With all the talk of global warming and how much of the carbon dioxide is created by cows passing gas you would think we could capture that. Just think of the dual-purpose, actually triple purpose we could gain from the cow. Cow gas, milk and when the cow gets too old we would get burger.
Nuclear – I believe is the best bet. We could create power from steam to power our cars or better yet to recharge power cells. Just think we could drive all-day, come home and plug-in our house to the car. We would never need a fill up, at least for about 20years. Car crashes would probably be bad but insurance would be low for there probably be nothing or nobody left to collect.
But with all the alternatives I would bet the price of oil would be up and although we didn’t need it we would somehow land up paying it. Grape are $5 a pound right now so they mut be made from oil!

Recently on the news there was two very troubling stories. Both affected me and most people in America. The first article dealt with a town in California wanting to throw out the Marine Recruiting station. Being a U.S. Marine it just sent fire through my veins. What are people thinking? These are the same people that when our country gets attacked will depend on people like me to protect them as they cower in their homes. What bothers me though is that I would still defend them and lay my life on the line for them.
The other article was downright stupid. There is a state thinking about passing a law where obese people wouldn’t be allowed to eat in restaurants. They would base this on the BMI index which makes Ely Manning obese. This of course would put McDonalds and most other fast-food restaurants out of business. Of course they could carry this down to the grocery stores so if you were obese you couldn’t buy food! If they are so concerned about people being overweight then they should bring phys-ed back to the schools. In my day gym class meant, sit-ups, jumping jacks, squat walking, laps around the gym for 45minutes a day. You couldn’t help but get into shape.
Perhaps we should hire some of those U.S. Marines to teach gym class instead of playing games and take all the concession stands out of the schools.

Or was that saying red rover red rover? Well anyway the red is out of red raider so we can soothe ONE individual. We are taking this political correctness just a little too far.
Maybe we should take a closer look at that name.
• ‘Raider’ Someone who takes spoils or plunder (as in war).
• Types=buccaneer, pirate, sea robber, sea rover
A secondary definition would be:
• A corporate investor who intends to take over a company by buying a controlling interest in its stock and installing new management.
• Types of= corporate investor, stealer, thief
Now let’s look at Red:
1. The quality or state of the chromatic color resembling the hue of blood.
2. Emotionally charged terms used to refer to extreme radicals or revolutionaries.
So where does it say we are talking about Native Americans when maybe what we are saying is that “Red Raiders” is “Red – extreme” “Raider – pirate”
So put patches over the eyes of the cheerleaders and see if they still land in the same place and change the chant to “ARrrgh!” but keep the Red in Red Raiders.
Some people just have too much time on their hands and that includes school board members that wasted time on this issue.
